The Department of Home Economics Education, through the funding support of the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development (Extension Grant), held a training program designed for Home Economics Teachers titled, Home Economics Teachers’ Skills Enhancement Training: Empowering Home Economics Through Research and Skills Development. Held on March 29, 2025, the training seminar featured workshop activities and insightful discussions of Assoc. Prof. Joanne R. Bantang, Dr. Maria Fema S. Aquino, and Dr. John Paolo Rivera, UP faculty members and Senior Research Fellow of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, respectively.

The Department of Home Economics Education concluded a successful series of school visits around Quezon City to engage with senior high school students to show the Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Program in UP Diliman. The department showed great effort in exhibiting the discipline of home economics and captured the interest of the students to take the BSHE Program.

On the 25th of September, the College of Home Economics community unveiled its way in such a grand scheme through the commemoration of its 62nd Founding Anniversary. With the theme, "Laro at Lasang Pinoy," CHE transformed into a Pinoy Games Festival for one whole day. Driven by Goal 3 of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals - Good Health and Well-being, the event sought to promote culture, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and enjoyment.

The Department of Home Economics Education, (DHEEd), College of Home Economics, University of the Philippines, and the Department of Consumer Science, College of Human Ecology, Seoul National Unversity conducted an online academic joint event titled Consumer Studies in South Korea and the Philippines: First Research Colloquium last October 16, 2023, via Zoom. The event sought to acquire insights about current consumer-related issues and trends in the Philippines and South Korea that could prove advantageous for home economics and consumer studies education and research as much as the intent to connect with researchers from other universities.

A classroom is a small bubble. However, students shall find themselves face-to-face with real life when this bubble bursts. On the 25th of November, the Department of Home Economics Education (DHEEd) and UP Circle of Home Economists (UP CHEc) joined forces to host HE Career Talk: CHEC LIST UNVEILED in order to ease them through such a crucial transition of curriculum-turned careers.
How do you envision families of the future? How do home economists make homes, families, and consumers of the future safe, happy and healthy? These are the questions posed to the members of the UP CHE community – students, faculty, staff, and alumni – during the HE Art Contest held last February to March 2024 by the UP College of Home Economics, through the Department of Home Economics Education. The contest was held in celebration of the World Home Economics Day 2024, with the theme “Home Economics 3.0: A Critical Update.”
