DHEEd Laboratory

The DHEEd Laboratory is located in IDS 119-120. It consists of lecture and food laboratory/kitchen areas. The lecture room, which can accommodate up to 25 students, is installed with air conditioning units and an LED television, which enables the faculty to have good delivery of lectures. The kitchen food laboratory, on the other hand, stores cooking and dining tools and utensils. It has three sinks, three gas ranges, two ovens, one refrigerator, and one freezer. Even with the limited space in the lab, food preparation tables are strategically placed. The kitchen tools and equipment are also maintained by the Department’s laboratory technician.

The laboratory of the Department is targeted to be transferred to the current Crafts and Interior Design Laboratory (CIDL). Aside from a food laboratory, this new DHEEd Laboratory will have a lecture and multipurpose room for handling courses on teaching technical drawing, electronics, crafts, and conduct of training programs. A room will also be dedicated to the foodservice practicum course offered by the Department.

Collection of Traditional Household Equipment

The Collection of Traditional Household Equipment consists of indigenous tools used in the preparation, cooking, serving, and preservation of food, along with other items traditionally utilized within households. Its purpose is to portray the cultural richness of Filipino families, offering valuable learning materials for exploring household resource management, technologies, and the realms of food and craft. This collection features local implements from various regions in the Philippines.

Dr. Elsa A. Orlina initiated this collection in the 1980s during her term as the Department chairperson. The Collection was officially launched within the College of Home Economics in 1992. It remains dedicated to illustrating the rich cultural heritage of Filipino households and families, serving as an invaluable resource for the study of household management, technologies, and the diverse facets of food and craft.

The DHEEd Office

Room 222 is the faculty room and office of the Home Economics Education Department. It was repainted and redecorated in 2019 to enhance the working environment of the DHEEd faculty and staff. The office provides a cozy and homey feel to students and other visitors.
