Associate Professor Bantang is a Licensed Professional Teacher and holds a PhD in Research and Evaluation from the University of the Philippines Diliman. Before this, she earned her MA in Education (Educational Psychology) and Bachelor of Science in Home Economics (cum laude) from the same university.
Her teaching areas include Home Economics, Consumer Education, Evaluation and Supervision, Curriculum and Quality Assessment, Research Methods & Instrument Development, Instructional Strategies & Classroom management, and Community & Out-of-School Youth Training Programs. Her research focuses mostly on family well-being and consumer behavior, including a few on Green consumerism. You may view her publications at the bottom of this article.
Currently, she belongs to several committees within the college and university, such as the Curriculum Committee, College Research Ethics Committee, UP Diliman Quality Assurance Committee, and the UP Diliman General Education Committee. Aside from this, she is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of the Philippine Association for Technology in Home Economics in State Colleges and Universities (PATHESCU). She has served as a reviewer of multiple journals, resource person for workshops, and a writer/editor for DepEd modules.
Assoc. Prof. Bantang has been recognized for her dedication to the field through numerous awards, including the most recent 2024 PATHESCU Professional Home Economics Award and PATHESCU Service Award. From 2019 to 2024, she was also a consistent recipient of the OneUP Professorial Chair Awards for Teaching and Public Service. Apart from these, she was awarded the Centennial Faculty Grant Awards in 2023 and won Third Place for the Best Poster Awards at the International Society for Quality-of-LIfe Studies (ISQOLS) 2021 Conference.
Aside from her positions within the University, Assoc. Prof. Bantang also serves as the Assistant Secretary of the International Federation for Home Economics and the National Secretary of the Philippine Association for Technology in Home Economics in State Colleges and Universities (PATHESCU). She is also a member of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies and the Asian Regional Association for Home Economics.
