The Department of Home Economics Education esteemed faculty, Assoc. Prof. Aurora S. Llige, Prof. Consuelo T. Chua, and Prof. Joanne R. Bantang engaged in the PATHESCU Research Webinar Series as speakers, contributing to the advancement of research and scholarship in the field of Home Economics.
The second installment of the webinar series was attended by Assoc. Prof Llige and Prof. Chua, with the theme “Research Foundations in Home Economics & Public Health: Building Interdisciplinary Competence”. Assoc. Prof. Llige shared how to conceptualize one’s research and explored some current emerging themes in home economics research. Assoc Prof. Chua helped listeners determine the right approach between quantitative and qualitative research designs, highlighting which design best fits each type of study.
In the third instalment of the webinar series, Prof. Bantang and Assoc. Prof Llige shared their insights relating to the theme “From Manuscript to Publication: Sharing Research for Impact”. In this webinar, Prof Bantang explained how the peer review process works and how to respond appropriately to reviewers. This has opened up new opportunities for those who have yet to publish their papers and has surely encouraged others to publish their work and have it peer-reviewed. Assoc. Prof. Llige shared her knowledge in her segment on the approaches to selecting appropriate journals to contribute to. She had highlighted strategies for ensuring one’s study is relevant to the journal, which journals would benefit from publishing it, and vice versa.
