The Home Economics Education Department proudly congratulates its esteemed faculty, Assoc. Prof. Joanne R. Bantang, for their appointment by the Chancellor to be the newest Chairperson of the University Council Committee on University Instruction (UC CUI).
Assoc. Prof. Bantang has been recently appointed as the Chairperson of the University Council Committee on University Instruction (UC CUI) for a year-long term. As indicated in the Faculty Manual, the UC CUI is responsible for reviewing, examining, and evaluating the faculty members’ performance in classroom teaching on a continuing basis. They are also tasked with formulating policy guidelines on teaching performance for the consideration of the entire Council.
Prof. Bantang shares that the Committee is tasked with examining the experiences of UP teachers—analyzing issues and discrepancies and finding the best practices and solutions that would make learning a more holistic experience not only for the students but also for the teachers as well. Her knowledge and expertise, given her educational training and background, are things she can greatly contribute to this endeavor.
After she had confirmed her acceptance of the position, she and her committee are now working on the aforementioned task of exploring projects to accurately and comprehensively evaluate faculty performance in online and hybrid class setups.
The Department of Home Economics Education congratulates Prof. Bantang on this new endeavor and wishes her all the best of luck in this new role.
