The Department of Home Economics Education (DHEEd) warmly welcomed its newest members—freshies, shiftees, and transferees (FSTs)—for the 1st Semester of A.Y. 2026-2027. Through a thoughtfully planned series of activities, the department helped its incoming students find their footing, explore the campus, and integrate into the vibrant department and college community.
DHEEd held a dedicated BSHE Program Orientation for its new FSTs on August 12, 2026. During this event, FSTs were provided with an in-depth look into the Bachelor of Science in Home Economics curriculum, key department policies, and student support systems. Faculty members were introduced, giving the new batch an immediate sense of home within the department. The orientation served as a space for FSTs to clarify academic expectations, meet their professors, and build early connections with their batchmates.
Additionally, DHEEd students got an early start on exploring their new environment through a campus tour organized by the UP Circle of Home Economists (CHEc) on July 31, 2026. The tour began at Alonso Hall and extended to key buildings within the CHE complex, as well as some of the buildings they’ll be visiting for their GE and elective courses, like the Benitez Hall of the College of Education and Palma Hall of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. This tour was a fun and interactive way for students to explore their new environment, making their transition into college life smoother and more welcoming. It was also an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions, share their excitement, and start building connections within the college community.
Closing out the welcome series, DHEEd joined the launCHE, the official College of Home Economics welcome assembly held on August 24, 2026, at Gusali 2. DHEEd actively participated in the morning’s program, presenting a departmental Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) and delivering a warm welcome message to the incoming students. From Dean Bantang’s opening remarks to the interactive pop quiz activities, DHEEd FSTs experienced the spirit of camaraderie that defines the college.
DHEEd remains committed to providing a supportive and inspiring environment for all its students, ensuring their journey is as enriching and enjoyable as possible. Here's to a successful and exciting journey for all our FSTs! Welcome to the DHEEd family!
