Graduate students from the Department of Home Economics Education showcased their research capabilities at the 27th PATHESCU Inc. Annual National Conference and Training, held at the Zuri Hotel in Iloilo City in partnership with Iloilo Science and Technology University. 

Poster Presentations:

In the poster presentation category, Joe Amiel Benson M. Ferrer (PhD Home Economics) tackled family dynamics in his case study titled "Ang pera ko ay pera ko. Ang pera mo ay pera ko: A Case Study on the Financial Decision Making Among Dual-Income Couples.”

Oral Presentations:

Irish C. Achondo (PhD) presented "Assessing the Effectiveness of the Nutrition Social Marketing Intervention Program.”

Demonstrating exceptional research versatility, Ma. Lara Angela S. Daloos (2nd Year PhD) presented three papers: "Safeguarding Children’s Nutrition: An Objective-Oriented Evaluation of a Child Development Center Snack Program" with Francis F. Gonzaga (2nd Year PhD) under Oral Presentation Theme 2: Nutrition, Culinary Heritage, Food Systems, and Sustainable Consumption, "Flood Preparedness of a Rice‑Producing Filipino Family Living Near the Matungao River, Bulacan: A Case Study" with Maria Theresa Mora Uy, and "Rising Above and Moving Forward: The Filipino Family Resilience Scale Development and Psychometric Testing" with Vanessa B. Zabala.

Adrienne Marie P. Gonzales (2nd Year Master’s) earned the Best Oral Presenter award under Theme 3: Families, Education, Sustainability, Consumer Behavior, and Community Development alongside her thesis adviser, Dean Joanne R. Bantang. She presented two papers: her undergraduate research "Dressed to Express: Exploring the Link Between Fashion Consciousness and Online Clothing Purchase Decisions" and "An Examination of the Home Economics Basic Education Curriculum Elements in Four National Revisions (1983-2023)” from HEEd 214 Curriculum Studies, her graduate class

Joy C. Aglibar (2nd Year Master’s) presented "From Nurturing Homes to Building a Workforce: An Investigation of the Curriculum Elements in the Home Economics Basic Education across Four National Revisions (1983-2023),” study analyzing the curriculum changes in Home Economics Curriculum from 1983 to 2023. Led by Prof. Aurora S. Llige as the main author with Adrienne Marie Gonzales, and Alvin Patrick A. Talabong as co-authors, the study examined shifts from family and home-centered skills to vocational training and technical competencies aimed at workforce readiness, emphasizing the curriculum’s alignment with economic and political pressures.

The department’s active participation and diverse research outputs shows the commitment of its students and faculty to advancing knowledge in home economics. Their contributions not only highlight academic excellence but also demonstrate their dedication to addressing real-world issues related to family, nutrition, education, and community resilience
