The College of Home Economics Office of Research and Publications held a Benchmarking Activity with the Iloilo Science and Technology University at their request. In this activity, the Department of Home Economics Education shared their case studies and success stories, highlighting how the support mechanisms have successfully facilitated research and publication.
The UP College of Home Economics Office of Research and Publications hosted esteemed faculty members of the Iloilo Science and Technology University for a Model Referencing Activity. Here, the CHE-ORP provided invaluable insights into the mechanisms employed by the office to encourage graduate students in their research and publication work. The Department of Home Economics Education shared endeavors rooted in their research framework, effective research activities, and successful research experience that has been supported by the CHE-ORP.
Presented by Asst. Prof. Mary Justine Clarise Trindad, the presentation covered the department’s research agenda, research activities, and their experiences.
The comprehensive sharing first offered a look into their disciplinary framework that has been the foundation of their research agenda. Joined by the vision-mission of the department, the framework is centered on the “empowering of families and improving their well-being in a changing environment for effective participation in local and global communities.”
The department shared the six research themes that their activities circulate on: General Home Economics, Household Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Development, Consumer Studies and Education, Home Economics Education and Training, and Ethics in Home Economics Research.
The College of Home Economics Office of Research and Publications and the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development had made it possible for the department to produce and craft their research works. The administrative bodies curate initiatives to encourage departments like the DHEEd to continuously expound their academic reach. Grants and awards, as well as orientations and webinars, allow faculty researchers to have the resources to launch their work off the ground. Documentation and ethics clearances ensure that all parties and individuals involved in the research process are safe and protected from any harm that may arise.
