The College of Home Economics Education (CHE) recognized the unwavering dedication of our very own Ma. Luisa M. Añavisa or Ate Awoe during the CHE's Araw ng Parangal at Pagkilala 2025, celebrating her remarkable 36 years of service. Her journey demonstrates loyalty, resilience, and a deep commitment to the department and its community.
Ate Awoe began her career at the College of Home Economics (CHE) in 1984, initially assigned to the Tea Room. In 1986, she began working as a Research Aide, eventually becoming a Laboratory Aide for the Department of Home Economics Education (DHEEd) in 1989, and in 1992, she attained her permanent position.
Throughout her 36 years with CHE, Ate Awoe expressed that her decision to stay was driven by the importance of samahan and the relationships she built within the department. She shared that moving to different roles or places was not easy, and she valued the relationships she nurtured over the years. As an only child, she also expressed her gratitude for the understanding and support system she found at the department.
Reflecting on her journey, Ate Awoe also shared some memorable moments — though not all were positive. The pandemic, in particular, brought about difficult experiences, including quarantines and moving to different quarantine sites. She also faced personal challenges, including navigating the uncertainties of those times.
Looking ahead, Ate Awoe expressed hope for the future of the CHE, wishing for an increase in student enrollment and the actualization of dedicated buildings. She hopes to see these improvements and hopes that they serve as a lasting legacy of the CHE.
On a personal note, Ate Awoe shared her hopes for herself—she wishes to maintain her strength and health, continue caring for her mother, and find stability in life. Her resilience and humility serve as an inspiration to all who know her.
As the CHE looks forward to more years of growth and development, the department honors the unwavering dedication of employees like Ate Awoe, whose service truly embodies the spirit of commitment and community.
