At the 2024 ISQOLS Annual Conference held last June 25-28 at Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, the department’s very own Assoc. Prof. Consuelo Chua and BSHE Batch 2022 alumnus Carlo Kristopher Trinidad brought home the 1st Place Award for the Best Poster Presentation for their research entitled “Financial Wellbeing of Filipino Families During the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
The poster presentation of their research was well-received by participants, who showed interest by inquiring more about the study, which described the Filipino families’ financial well-being, the financial challenges that they experienced, and what they did to address these hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic. The poster was also praised for its colorful and organized design.
Assoc. Prof. Chua recounts the 2024 International Society of Quality-of-Life (QOL) Studies Conference as a wonderful learning experience for her, as a researcher and home economics professor. She learned from the diverse perspectives shown in the conference. She was also able to connect with key figures in the field, including Dr. Joseph Sirgy, professor emeritus from Virginia Tech, and Dr. Mahar Mangahas, chair emeritus of Social Weather Stations.
The Department would once again like to congratulate Assoc. Prof. Chua and Carlo Kristopher Trinidad for this achievement!
